Cllr Richard Lewis
Councillor & Executive Member for Regeneration, Transport and Planning
Leeds City Council
Council since 1986, representing the Pudsey ward. Prior to retirement he worked
in the public transport and social housing sectors; he is now a full-time
councillor, being Executive Board member responsible for Regeneration,
Transport & Planning, with responsibility for housing growth, planning,
regeneration, highways and transportation, asset management, amongst other
areas.
He has been involved in a number of high-profile schemes, including the development of the first direct Arena, Trinity Leeds, Victoria Gate, Kirkgate Market refurbishment, the CityConnect cycle superhighway, the growth of Park & Ride facilities, the Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme, the Leeds Enterprise Zone and regeneration of the Leeds South Bank/ HS2. He is currently involved in the city’s evolving Transport Strategy and the investment opportunities arising out of the billion pound West Yorkshire Plus Transport Fund and the government’s recent decision on the New Generation Transport scheme.
