Naz has over 20 years’ experience in the housing and regeneration sector. In June 2014, Naz was appointed Executive Director for the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber at the HCA, having previously been Head of Area for Leeds City Region and North Yorkshire. Naz is also responsible for the Vulnerable and Older Persons Advisory Group (VOPAG) to the HCA Board.

Naz began his career supporting homeless people in Leeds with a range of specialist support agencies, including St Anne’s and the Leeds Shaftesbury Project, before moving into developing social housing in 1994. He later moved to Anchor Trust as Regional Development Manager for Yorkshire, where he developed a number of retirement housing and extra care schemes across the region. In his 10 years at Anchor, Naz was responsible for a range of functions, including supporting People contracts, Asset Management, Housing Services, Policy and Performance, which culminated in him taking up the role of Chief Operating Officer for the Housing Service.

In 2005, Naz joined Northern Counties as their Investment and Regeneration Director at a time when NCHA were merging with the Guinness Trust where he sat on the Shadow Group Executive and was responsible for securing new business and managing the programme across the North before leaving to join Leeds City Council to head up the Round 6 PFI bid for Lifetime Homes. Naz joined the Housing Corporation in 2008, which became part of the HCA.

Martin Farrington has worked in Local Government for more than 20 years and is the Director of City Development, Leeds City Council with responsibility for the physical, economic and cultural development of the city. His work has included the sale of the Leeds Bradford Airport, bringing forward the Masterplan for Elland Road and overseeing of proposals for Leeds South Bank and Sovereign Street. He has also led on the development of the Leeds Arena Project. Martin represents Leeds City Council on the Board of Yorkshire County Cricket Club. In 2014 he was awarded Property Personality of the Year at the Yorkshire Property Awards.

John Mothersole is the Chief Executive of Sheffield City Council. He was appointed to this role in 2008.

John joined Sheffield City Council in 1998 as Executive Director and since then has been directly and closely involved in much of the regeneration of the City.

Prior to coming to Sheffield he was a Director with the London Borough of Camden for seven years, and before that was the Arts Development Officer for Newcastle Upon Tyne.

In his current role, John is Company Secretary to Creative Sheffield, Guardian of the Sheffield Assay Office, Chair and Director of the Source Training Centre, Chair of LGYH Chief Executives’ Group, Chair of South Yorkshire Programme Management Board (ERDF), Chair of Sheffield City Region Chief Executives’ Group, a member of Core Cities Chief Executives’ Group and is a board member of the University of Sheffield Management School.
